This Week Jan 5-11: 5 New Spots to Eat Your Way Into 2026
A curated F&B comeback featuring cult noodles, heritage cooking, Korean grills, and a certain famous chicken sandwich.
Here’s your latest edition of Out & About SG — and yes, we’re back after a short hiatus (work and life got real). But we’ve been eating well and catching up on the city’s latest bites so you don’t have to scroll 500 TikToks to find your next meal.
Now, in today’s edition:
Cult Tokyo udon
Old-school Eurasian cuisine,
Korean grills
The one everyone’s talking about: Chick-fil-A has landed
Multiple events this week & more
Let’s get into it.

Udon Shin : 🍜 Back on the Noodle Grind

Source: Eatbook
If you know, you know. Tokyo’s cult udon shop has finally arrived in Singapore, marking its first international outpost — and they didn’t come to play.
Udon Shin keeps things hyper-focused: hand-made udon, perfected dashi, and minimalist sides that let the noodles do the talking. Expect long queues, but once that bowl hits your table, you’ll understand why.
What to try:
Signature Carbonara Udon (~S$24): A wild blend of Japanese technique and Italian richness — think silky udon in a warm dashi broth, with butter, parmesan, a raw yolk, and a crispy strip of tempura bacon. Comfort in a bowl.
Rotating tempura options and specials.
🕐 Walk-ins only (dine-in), no reservations yet.

Gilmore & Damian D’Silva: 🍷 Heritage on a Plate

Source: Gilmore & Damian D’Silva
Chef Damian D’Silva is back — this time with a warm, elegant homage to Eurasian cuisine, blending personal stories and heritage recipes with fine-dining finesse.
At Gilmore, you’re not just eating — you’re tasting legacy.
What to try:
Eurasian Debal with Roast Pork: A dish with roots deep in tradition, the spice blend here hits with smoky depth and tangy heat.
Dishes rotate seasonally, so expect variations of family classics reimagined for 2025.
🕐 Dinner service; reserve ahead.

From the team behind Um Yong Baek comes Joong San — a new-school Korean BBQ spot bringing top-grade beef and punchy stews to Telok Ayer.
This one’s made for Friday night hangs: buzzing tables, sizzling plates, and soju-fueled laughter.
What to try:
Beef BBQ Set (~S$45–S$65): Assorted cuts grilled tableside, served with ssamjang, kimchi, and all the sides.
Kimchi Jjigae & Doenjang Jjigae (Lunch Sets ~S$18–S$28): Deep, fermented flavour bombs in bubbling stone pots.
🕐 Open for lunch and dinner.

Yep, it finally happened. Chick-fil-A has touched down in Asia — and the lines haven’t stopped since.
Whether you’re a longtime fan from U.S. trips or just want to see what the fuss is about, the Bugis+ flagship is the place.
What to try:
Original Chicken Sandwich (~S$12–14): Simple, crispy, seasoned — with buttered buns and just pickles.
Waffle Potato Fries (~S$6–8): Iconic and dangerously snackable.
Hand-spun Milkshake (~S$6–8): Seasonal flavours rotate — check IG for specials.
